A Very Merry Hogan Christmas πŸŽ„

December was a busy one! As it usually is. Lots of festive activities in town, school field trips and performances, a week long visit to kentucky, lots of shopping, family visiting, tons of eating and not whole lot of blogging going on. I decided I would kind of take a blogging break for December to get refreshed for the new year and make sure I was spending lots of quality time with my family!

I can NOT believe Christmas has already come and gone. It is mind blowing how fast it all goes. It was just Halloween like last week!! The saying “In the blink of an eye” is scary relevant!

I made sure to get my Christmas decor up early so we got to enjoy it all!

We kicked off Christmas with the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony and Santa’s Wonderland Dinner at the Ritz Carlton and of course the Ritz does not disappoint. The tree lighting was so much fun! They had their GIANT Christmas tree on the lawn with the ocean in the background, they did some performances from Royal Amelia Dance Academy and some fabulous giveaways. The did a count down and on ONE all the lights at the Ritz lit up. Fire works went off and Bruce Springsteen’s Santa Claus is coming to town jammed out on the speakers. It was magical!

Now time to feast like kings and boy did we ever. The Wonderland Dinner was filled with everything you can imagine. It was decked to the nines in the ballroom. A winter wonderland north pole theme complete with characters like the ice king and queen, woodland creatures, Santa, Mrs. Claus and Jack Frost. We all got dolled up and frolicked around in a winter wonderland all night long πŸ™‚

The next weekend we were invited to the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Christmas Lighting Celebration. We were treated with a delicious dinner at Marche Burette and wristbands for the girls to enjoy the evenings festivities. So much fun! So much for children to do and live music, bounce houses, tents to make your own ornament, and of course hot chocolate!

Riley bear had her first field trip to the Florida Theatre to see ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas and I got to with her! that was a blast! We both dressed up and she got see a Christmas play with her class!

Next we did the Christmas parade downtown Fernandina. Lots of fun with lots of lights and festivities!

And then we set off to Kentucky for a week to visit my family and I’m so so happy we did. We visited both of my grandmothers, 2 of my aunts, my cousin and all my favorite places. My brother and Dad were also there with us so it was amazing! We ate all the food we possibly could eat haha obviously that part was my idea (always). I usually have a list of places I HAVE to go to eat while I’m in Kentucky, and you believe I’m at every one of them! Skyline being the top priority. We shopped, explored, went to Lights Under Louisville, Mark and Bradley went snowboarding, we all piled up every night in the living room by the fire place and all watched a movie together, then during the day we went to the our other grandmothers house and snuggled and looked at old pictures while reminiscing on sweet memories. We hoped for snow but it never came. We got our dose of cold weather though – 14 degrees. BRRRR!

For Christmas day we cooked 3 boston butts on the grill and had the whole family over for dinner, presents, and good old fashioned board games and then a hilarious couple of rounds of the game heads up. Santa brought Riley and Ella a fish tank as one their big presents this year and let me tell ya..Santa did it up right! It is a Spongebob theme and it is legit. NAILED IT.

December is over now and its 2017!!! Just like that..2016 is over. I am excited for 2017 and all the exciting things to come! I appreciate all of you who have continued to follow me and I can’t wait for some fresh new fun stuff from My Dear Hart in the new year! Love you guys! 🍾
