So many moons ago it seems, before children. My husband did a lot of traveling with his job. One of his projects landed him in New Orleans. On St. Patricks Day. So you can bet your bottom dollar I was on a plane to New Orleans to visit him that week! Such a fun trip!
I was actually in the very very early stages of pregnancy with my first daughter so we didn’t do any partying but more exploring and eating, which to me is always better anyways!
My flight there was one the most interesting/entertaining flights I’ve ever had. The couple in my row were hammered drunk. SLOSHED. Like so hammered they couldn’t even walk when we arrived in New Orleans and had security escort them out somewhere while they yelled “HAND GRENADES!!!” At everyone. Which ironically is a weapon but also a famous drink in New Orleans.
So first things first. Eat ALL the food. Obviously.
We went to the Chartres House for lunch and sat on their balcony overlooking the French quarter. I obviously just had to try some genuine gumbo so that’s what I did. And it was deeeeeeelish let me tell ya! We had to get a T-Shirt too obviously.
Soon after the streets were filling quickly with St. Patty’s Day partiers! ☘️ We squeezed our way through stopping in every little store to explore and take it all in.
HAD to stop at this very cool records shop! The vibes were very Voo Doo ⚱️????
There are definitely some characters that wander about Bourbon St. but St. Patrick’s Day really brought them out!
We wandered for hours! We stopped in a little shop and got Riley a little tiny onesie that had a fleur-de-lis on it, which ironically we ended up having Ella years later on St. Patrick’s day 🙂 She wore that onesie too ?
That was the best foot massage I’ve ever had in my life. It doesn’t look like much from the outside but let me tell ya something, they ain’t playing games in there.
More walking and exploring after we revamped from a massage from the gods.
When we left Bourbon St. to go back to the hotel we somehow took a wrong turn and ended up in “Gatorville”. Literally.
It was a cute little country place though! There were little shops and a little country cafe!
The trip was short & sweet but such an experience! Good times and delicious food 🙂 I wish I could tell you about our grand & luxurious accommodations in a an old French style mansion but we stayed at a Best Western Inn & Suites off the interstate with the work crew. Next time though you can find me in the Roosevelt New Orleans ??
